Books, Books, Books

The Library at Biltmore Estate

Housing over 10,000 of the 23,000 books in the Biltmore House collection, the Library reflects George Vanderbilt's love of learning and the arts. The impressive eighteenth-century canvas on the Library ceiling, painted by Giovanni Pellegrini, was bought to Biltmore House from Pisani Palace in Venice, Italy.

Dear George & Ellen,

Lately we visited the Smokies on the Tenn.-NC border & spent a day at Biltmore as well -- astonishing place in size & decor.
