Mason County's 1st Courthouse was the county seat in 1855. Standing on its original land, the building is Mason County's first frame home. It was built in 1849 by the area's first permanent settler, Aaron Burr Caswell. The Courthouse is recognized as a Registered State Historic Site.

Dear Neal & Michele,

It actually feels like summer, though a wet & buggy one, up here at last. Ludington's a fine town if you're in the neighborhood.
