The great state of Michigan is divided into two parts, the Upper and Lower Peninsulas. Almost surrounded by water, it has 3,100 miles of shoreline bordering on four of the five Great Lakes. Made up of 83 counties, Michigan became a state in 1837.

Big Sable Point Lighthouse

Ludington, Michigan, is a favorite place for visitors and residents to watch the lovely sunsets. Lake Michigan is famous for fishing and boating. This is the home of the Badger car ferry that carries passengers and automobiles between Ludington and Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

One can walk along a breakwater out to the pictured lighthouse. We didn’t see a sunset, but we did see guys on jetskis acting foolishly.

Marchido School is a typical one-room country school house restored to the original condition and decor. Built in 1890, it was used until 1956. Now children from many Western Michigan schools come and attend the One Room School Experience using slates, McGuffey's reader and rules from 100 years ago.

This was a good find in western Mich. The school was esp. interesting, complete with a 44-star flag, dunce cap & portrait poster of "Our 22 Presidents."

All Ikea furniture has Scandinavian names. BRA is the word for "good" in Swedish, and it's the name of a table at Ikea.

CG Ukiyo-e Series "Rekishi Kaido 21 Scenes"
21. Site of Meriken Wharf, the Port of Kobe, Kobe, Hyogo
The main route of the Rekishi Kaido, literally the "Highway of History," is an approx. 300km-long theme road. It starts from ancient Ise, following Auska, Nara, Kyoto and Osaka, and end in modern Kobe, going around to 21 epoch-making sites of Japanese history chronologically. The CG Ukiyo-e Series "Rekishi Kaido 21 Scenes" corresponds to all these locations.
