Earthrise

CARD IMAGE:

Rising Earth

The Moon orbits Earth at an average distance of about 380,000 kilometers (236,000 miles) and has a diameter about one-fourth that of the Earth -- making it an unusually large natural satellite. The rising Earth is about 5 degrees above the lunar horizon in this telephoto view taken from the Apollo 8 spacecraft.

Dear Steve & Deb,

I'm afraid this view is out of reach for spring break, but we will make it to Michigan for my nephew's wedding (and how did he get to be 25?)
